🐾 RAW PAWZ FLEA POLICY 🐾

Keeping Raw Pawz safe, clean & flea-free

At Raw Pawz, the health, safety and welfare of every dog that visits us is extremely important.

As Raw Pawz is both a professional dog grooming salon and a pet shop, with other dogs regularly visiting our premises and food, treats and pet products stored and sold on site, we have a strict flea policy.

Fleas can spread very quickly and may be transferred onto grooming equipment, surfaces, clothing and throughout the premises. We therefore cannot risk allowing a flea infestation to spread to other dogs, customers, our grooming salon or our shop stock.

🐶 FLEAS FOUND ON ARRIVAL

If live fleas are discovered when your dog arrives for their grooming appointment, Raw Pawz reserves the right to refuse the groom and send your dog home immediately.

This is necessary to protect other dogs, our staff, our customers, our equipment and the wider Raw Pawz premises.

🛁 FLEAS DISCOVERED DURING THE GROOM

Fleas are not always visible when a dog first arrives and may only become apparent once the coat is wet or the grooming process has begun.

If live fleas are discovered at any point during the grooming process, including during bathing, the groom will be stopped immediately.

Once fleas have been identified, we will not continue with drying, brushing, clipping, styling or any other part of the groom.

This is particularly important because the use of a high-velocity dryer can potentially disturb and disperse fleas throughout the grooming area and wider premises.

Even if the bath has already been completed, the groom may still be stopped immediately if live fleas are discovered.

This decision is made to protect the health and hygiene of every dog visiting Raw Pawz and to prevent a potential flea infestation within our premises.

💷 FLEA CANCELLATION CHARGE

Where a grooming appointment cannot be completed because fleas are discovered, a cancellation charge of up to 100% of the booked grooming price may apply.

The charge will reflect the circumstances of the appointment and the loss incurred by Raw Pawz, which may include:

• The grooming appointment being reserved exclusively for your dog
• Staff wages and staffing costs allocated to the appointment
• The loss of the opportunity to fill the appointment with another customer
• Time already spent preparing for or carrying out the appointment
• Additional cleaning and decontamination required
• Any disruption caused to other grooming appointments or shop operations

For example, if a medium-breed haircut and styling appointment is booked at £48, and live fleas are discovered during the bath, meaning the groom must be stopped and the remaining appointment time cannot be filled, a charge of up to £48 may apply.

The charge will be determined fairly and will not be intended as a penalty.

Where part of the grooming service has already been completed, the amount charged will take into account the work already carried out and the actual loss suffered by Raw Pawz.

🧼 ADDITIONAL CLEANING & DECONTAMINATION

Where fleas are discovered, Raw Pawz may need to carry out additional cleaning and decontamination of the bathing area, grooming equipment, tables, floors and other affected areas.

Any additional reasonable costs directly resulting from the flea infestation may be charged where appropriate.

🚫 REBOOKING

A dog that has been found to have live fleas will not be accepted for another grooming appointment until the owner has confirmed that appropriate flea treatment has been carried out.

Any outstanding flea-related charges must also be paid before another grooming appointment can be booked.

Please be aware that treating the dog alone may not eliminate an infestation. Fleas can also live within the home environment, so we recommend seeking advice from your vet or an appropriate veterinary flea-control provider.

❤️ PLEASE TELL US BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT

If you know or suspect that your dog has fleas, please tell us before bringing them into Raw Pawz.

We would much rather rearrange your appointment than risk fleas being brought into our premises and potentially affecting other dogs, customers, staff, food, treats or stock.

There will be no judgement — fleas happen. We simply need to know so that we can protect everyone else using our services.

By booking a grooming appointment with Raw Pawz, you acknowledge that you have read and accepted this flea policy.

Raw Pawz reserves the right to refuse or discontinue a grooming service where live fleas are present where necessary to protect animal welfare, hygiene, staff, customers, other animals and the premises.
